Yud Tes Kislev calls every Jew to free himself from whatever restrains the goodness of his soul and to reveal love of the Jewish people, Torah, and G-d. The pure soul's descent into a physical body and world appears to be a severe decline, yet its purpose is to refine the body and the world through Torah and Mitzvoth, thereby enabling the soul to attain a height unavailable above. Recognizing the unique value of Torah and Mitzvoth transforms one's service, despite its difficulties, into joyful service.

Jewish women played a decisive role in the redemptions of Purim and Pesach, demonstrating their special responsibility for the Jewish future. At Pesach their influence was centered primarily within the home, strengthening faith and raising the generation that received the Torah; at Purim, Esther showed that when Divine Providence places a woman in a position of public influence, she must use it for her people with self-sacrifice. Jewish women must continue both forms of service, within the home and beyond it, to preserve Torah and Mitzvoth.

The events of the past year demonstrated the falsehood of various ideologies and the danger of compromise in matters of Torah and Mitzvoth. The Jewish people's continued existence and spiritual health depend upon living with Torah and Mitzvoth every day and in every area of life, and every Jew must influence his family and surroundings accordingly.
