During the Three Weeks, Jewish children possess a special power, because the world is sustained by their sinless Torah study. They should increase in Torah and mitzvot, especially material and spiritual charity, and influence their friends as well. Their efforts transform the days of destruction into preparation for Redemption, when these days will become times of joy and gladness.

The days approaching the Festival of Liberation on 12-13 Tammuz call for increased efforts to spread Torah and Judaism, because every increase in holiness draws greater blessing and hastens Redemption. This duty belongs to everyone, especially in Torah study - including women and girls - and through participation in the campaigns for Torah, tefillin, mezuzah, charity, sacred books, and Shabbat and festival candles. Increased study and action extend the liberation of 12 Tammuz toward the complete Redemption.

On the fiftieth anniversary of the Previous Rebbe’s liberation, particular attention should be given to his self-sacrifice for the Torah education of Jewish children. He established and maintained schools and yeshivot even though this endangered his life and, consequently, all his other work for adults; he thereby demonstrated that children’s education takes precedence and determines the Jewish future. Every boy and girl should therefore devote themselves to Torah study and careful mitzvah observance, and serve as an example to others.
